Tens of thousands in Paris and more than a hundred thousand all over France took the street in a massive protest against the climate law, voted earlier this week in the French parliament.
The demonstrations took place in a festive atmosphere, with a lot of colors and animation, and with a lot of young people, coming from different social backgrounds.
The awareness is rising and more people are getting convinced that significant measures have to be taken to save the planet. But thats not what the French authorities are doing, they say.
Earlier this week, the French parliament voted a climate law after 110 hours of debate. A record.
The High Council for the Climate, an independent body, declared that the French measures are insufficient to reduce greenhouse gases. The European Union as well is strengthening its ambitions to halt global warming.
